Disorder Breaks Out at Venue

Numerous supporters assembled on thoroughfares from early morning, with chaos breaking out when massive group broke through a gate at the city's central arena, causing soldiers to fire in the air.

Airport Incident and Government Building Standoff

Previously that day, numerous of mourners temporarily invaded the city's air terminal, halting a ceremony where the head of state and other officials were welcoming Odinga's corpse with armed forces tribute.

This situation prompted a brief stoppage of aviation services.

Assemblies also flooded adjacent streets and attempted to breach parliament, where the government had first arranged the community homage.

Political Legacy and Community Support

While predominantly identified as an political challenger, Odinga served as prime minister in 2008 and also formed a political pact with the president last year in a career marked by shifting alliances.

He inspired intense commitment among adherents, notably in his Luo community based in the country's west, many of whom maintain he was denied the highest office by electoral fraud.

Many of Odinga's supporters, who were not yet born in 1991 when Kenya established itself as a pluralistic political system, offered homage to Odinga's efforts as an activist.
